Canadian Screen Week wrapped up last night as the final Canadian Screen Awards were handed out during a broadcast gala in Toronto.
The annual week-long celebration culminated with a gala which honoured the best in Canadian film and television.
“Maudie,” a biopic about the life of folk-singer Maud Lewis starring Sally Hawkins and Ethan Hawke, was the biggest winner of the night winning six awards including the most prestigious trophy for “Best Motion Picture.” The Oscar-nominated film “The Breadwinner” also proved to be a big winner taking home three awards. CBC’s breakout hit, “Kim’s Convenience,” also celebrated with two trophies.
