Resources for Individuals:

If you are an athlete or the parent of an athlete and you are interested in pursuing a dispute with a sporting organization, we at Lucentem can guide you through the process to ensure a seamless and stress-free process.

PROCESS

If you are considering filing an appeal against your child’s team or sporting organization, it is important to know and consider the details of what that process will entail. At Lucentem, we are here to guide you through this process in an effective and efficient manner:

Consultation

In this first step of the process, our priority is meeting both you and your child and determining all aspects of the issue you are facing, in order to identify how we can help you in your unique situation. Following this, we will take the time to explain and outline the process that will follow should you choose to proceed with your dispute.

Gathering of materials

After agreeing to enlist our services, our first course of action will be to gather all relevant materials related to your case. At this point, we will become the liaison between you and any other parties involved in the dispute.

Appeal Written

One of the most vital steps in this process comes at the point of writing the appeal itself. Our team at Lucentem is skilled in this area and has the expertise to ensure that the appeal will be tailored to your specific situation, and that we will be prepared for any of the unique nuances that your case presents.

Hearing

We understand that the culmination of your dispute can be a stressful experience. The hearing, which will take place in the form of a panel, will be our chance to present our appeal. You can rest assured that our team is well-versed in presenting our evidence and arguments, and that you will be represented in a fair and efficient way as we work diligently to ensure the best outcome for you and your child.

Decision submitted

Following the hearing, a decision will be submitted. At this point, we will ensure that the decision is understood and will use our expertise to cut through the legal noise to make sure that you are satisfied with it.

Further appeal (if necessary)

If you are, for any reason, unhappy with the decision that has been submitted, you will have the option to submit a further appeal. If this is the case, you can be assured that we will not rest until a decision is made that satisfies all parties and produces a positive outcome for the future of your child’s athletic endeavors.

Enforcement of decision

Following a decision and, if necessary, a further appeal we will continue working with you to ensure that the decision has been enforced and that all parties are satisfied with the outcome.

WHAT TO EXPECT

How long does the process take?

Although each case is different, appeals processes often move very quickly usually taking no longer than a few weeks in total. Although the process is a quick one, you can be assured that our team will work diligently to ensure that every step of the process is carried out effectively and efficiently.

What is the likelihood that we will win our appeal?

In working with us, you will find that our team is committed to ensuring a positive outcome for you and your child no matter the scope of the case itself, and we will work tirelessly to work towards a verdict that satisfies the needs of your child.

TESTIMONIALS

We’ve been involved in Minor Sports all of our lives, but it wasn’t until recently that we experienced the negative side of minor elite sports that required us to look for some additional legal assistance. Layth Gafoor & his team from Lucentem Sports agreed to guide us through the legalities of elite sport issues when we did not know where to turn for help. Layth’s utmost professionalism and strategy-based approach was crucial to the outcome, and his ability to vary his approach to suit the audience was instrumental in our success. He was proficient at educating our 11-year-old son to understand the process and impact we would be faced with along the way.

We cannot thank Layth and his team enough for their commitment to ensuring our son’s interests were always in the forefront of the approach, and for his encouragement through what seemed a very emotional and unjust system of legalities.
Through Layth’s work with our family on the matter, he has certainly inspired our young athlete to continue to reach for his dreams, and has even motivated him to consider becoming a sports lawyer himself. That in itself for us was a testament to Layth’s professionalism and commitment to influencing a young boy. Layth, in many ways, has become a member of our team and our family.
We would highly recommend Layth Gafoor and his team at Lucentem to anyone in Minor Sports looking for a positive solution.

Testimonials

Working with Layth and his team at Lucentem Sports & Entertainment Law has been an exceptional experience. As my organization has been steadily growing I needed a legal professional to restructure and improve my company by-laws, code of ethics and the regulatory framework for my Track and Field club. Layth and his team were the right people to do it! They were professional, client-focused and provided the reassurance that I needed when I wasn’t always sure about the path to take. Layth has a calming demeanor and a cool confidence that always eased my mind of worry because I knew that Layth and his superb team had me and my club’s interest at heart. They promised they would handle everything, and they did. Absolutely an awesome team over there at Lucentem Sports & Entertainment Law.
